Join us for this class with either a sewing machine or a serger or both in this two class series! I’ll be covering sewing a blouse from a pattern. This class will focus on matching plaids, gathering, creating the neckline and placket, buttonholes, and a curved hemline.
As you can see in the photograph, we will alter the pattern to include a contrast fabric
for the sleeve cuffs, the placket, and neckline. We will cut the center and back
panels on the diagonal to create a nice contrast pattern with the plaid. We’ll also cover size selection & minor adjustments, fabric preparation, layout considerations (grain, folds, nap, fabric patterns), cutting, and fabric marking. We’ll learn about the details of pattern instructions and how to change the instructions to work when sewing with a serger. We’ll cover all the sewing basics – the how-to's and why’s. And we’ll learn how your regular machine and your serger can complement each other! (A serger is not necessary to take this class).
After registering for the class, you will receive a supply list via email. The cost of $40 is for the series, not including patterns, fabrics, and notions. Garment complexities will increase after completion of each individual garment. The intention is that this class will meet every-other-month for the entire year.
